Friday of the Seventh Week of Easter

Bless the LORD, O my soul;
and all my being, bless his holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits.

Psalms 103:1-2

The peace of the Lord be with you. A rich warmth and the refreshing smells of spring fill our house this morning as I take time for reflection and write these words. These are just some of the most simple blessings that I — that we — will receive from God today.

Psalm 103 reminds us of the gratitude we should have in our hearts for God’s daily gifts. My spiritual director used to say that “all things are a gift,” and the more I sit with that, the more I realize how true that is. Even the moments of difficulty and stress often turn out to be blessings and teachings in disguise.

So today let our hearts, our voices, our souls, and our actions, praise God the great giver of life. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
