Saturday of the Fourth Week of Easter

The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me…

John 14:7-14

Peace of the Lord be with you. The last couple of days in the Gospel of John, Jesus emphasizes this amazing fact: when we see Him, we see God in the flesh. There is no separation between God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. In Jesus we see the gentleness of God; God’s desire to serve us; God’s desire to embrace us, and to love us.

In this season of Easter we repeatedly hear, see, and experience God’s desire to heal and forgive us so we may be closer to him. When I think about the moment when God will receive our spirit, when each of us will stand in God’s presence, the presence of pure life and love, I just find myself filled with holy fear, wonder, and awe. We must prepare ourselves now to stand in the presence of this perfect love.

Dear Jesus, God and brother, help us each day to prepare ourselves to stand in Your presence one day, and then to bathe in the light of your eternal glory. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
