Solemnity of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

Beloved, let us love one another,
because love is of God;
everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God.
Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love.
In this way the love of God was revealed to us:
God sent his only Son into the world
so that we might have life through him.
In this is love:
not that we have loved God, but that he loved us
and sent his Son as expiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us,
we also must love one another.
No one has ever seen God.
Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us,
and his love is brought to perfection in us.

— 1 John 4:7-16

The peace of the Lord be with you. Today the church celebrates the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Margaret Mary Alacoque received a vision of the compassionate heart of Jesus pierced by the sins of the world. It is fitting then, to have this reading from 1 John that tells us what makes up the heart of the triune God. Love and Mercy.

What flowed then from the pierced heart of Jesus was love and mercy for the forgiveness of the sins of the world. This has been the inspiration of many beautiful devotions that help us to meditate on this great act of merciful love. It is the true remedy for what ails us and the world. Most sacred heart of Jesus continue to pour out your mercy and healing on us. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
